Destructions

Destructions? What?

When my electrical goods break I don't just throw them out, I take them apart and salvage some of the interesting bits in them (as well as take lots of photos). Its a lot better than filling up my local dump and it means I get to have a full junk box =].

If you want higher quality images or to enquire about a specific part number on one of the circuit boards, please don't hesitate to contact me.

The Bits

Image Product Description RRP Photos Date Photos Taken
Cheap MP3 Player My first MP3 player. It had 128MB of flash memory - as much as I could afford in 2003. £35.99 6 ?
Olivetti P100D Laptop Damaged BIOS - booted to about three lines of POST and then hung. I got given it as it was no longer needed. ? 7 8th April 2005
Samsung T100 The phone did not power up. I got this free from a friend when it stopped working. ? 2 12th May 2005
Nokia 3510i My trusty Nokia phone. By the time it finally broke it was wrapped with duct and insulating tape. It also went through the wash twice; needless to say, it was a hardy phone! £74.99 2 12th November 2005
Umax Astra-Pix 420 My very first digital camera, back in 2001. Everything in it is controlled by the most humongous ASIC I have ever seen - a Sound Vision 'Clarity 2' chip. The price is astonishing for what it was, though I can guarantee you that it was the best value for money then. £54.99 8 22nd December 2005
Vodafone MN-1 Another non-booting phone. A very old OEM model from Vodafone. ? 15 22nd Dec 2006
Sony MZNH-600 Minidisc Recorder The thing stopped writing - it would make a loud grinding noise and corrupt the data on the disk. It kept reading my old discs for a while, however. £70.99 22 25th January 2007
NEC e228 My last phone. The battery slowly died and replacements are more than the cost of a new phone. ? 7 13th May 2007
